WEST CHICAGO, IL — Kline Creek Farm will be abuzz with free family-friendly activities throughout October, from beekeeping and blacksmiths to an interactive corn harvest. The 200-acre farm features a 19th-century farmhouse, a chicken coop, a barn and other places to explore. Corn Harvest Visit Kline Creek Farm on Saturdays and Sundays in October, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. to learn all about the farm's annual corn harvest and its history. Guests may have a chance to pick corn, load wagons and fill up a corn crib. Guests are advised to wear sturdy shoes in case they walk in the cornfields. Beekeeping Stop by the farm's honey house on Oct. 2 and Oct. 9 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. to see beekeepers harvesting honey. The volunteers will also be available answer questions about beekeeping. Blacksmiths On select days, blacksmiths will also be on hand in Kline Creek Farm's wagon shed. Families can pop into the shed to see the historical art of blacksmithing and learn about the tools and techniques blacksmiths use.
