Description
PLAINFIELD, IL — The annual Plainfield Community Homecoming Parade is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Saturday, and residents should prepare for an increase of traffic and congestion around downtown Plainfield that morning.
Starting at 9 a.m., the parade will step off at the intersection of Van Dyke Road and Lockport Street — near Settlers' Park — from where it will travel east on Lockport Street and go south on Illinois Street. From there, it'll go west on Commercial Street, south on James Street and end at Fort Beggs Drive, near Plainfield Central High School.
Plainfield police said drivers should avoid the downtown area between 8 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Saturday. At 6 a.m., police will close Ottawa Street between Van Dyke Road and Ira Jones Middle School, which will have controlled access for the parade.
No Route 59 lanes will be closed, but drivers should expect delays and congestion, police said.
At 8:30 a.m., police will be closing the following roads, which are expected to reopen between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
