Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers Courting Steelers?

PITTSBURGH, PA — It could be a match made in, if not heaven, then perhaps Heinz Field: Green Bay Packers star quarterback donning the black and gold and suiting up for the Steelers. The Steelers likely will be searching for a new quarterback next year with future Hall of Famer Ben Roethlisberger seemingly in his last season. Rodgers could become a free agent after this season and had nothing but positive things to say about the Steelers and Pittsburgh on a podcast Tuesday. Appearing on the Pat McAfee Show, a podcast hosted by the former Indianapolis Colts punter and Plum native, Rodgers gushed over the Steelers, head coach Mike Tomlin and even local video cult figure Pittsburgh Dad. His remarks came as the Packers prepare to play the Steelers Sunday in Green Bay. Rodgers was effusive in his praise of Tomlin. "I have a ton of respect for Mike. I think he's a fantastic coach," he said. "I love the way that he leads. I love the way he talks after the games. Always seems to keep things really even keel. And looks like he's somebody that the players love playing for him." Perhaps tellingly, he did not mention Roethlisberger, 39, whose poor play has contributed greatly to the Steelers anemic offense and their 1-2 record to start the season. Rodgers, whose former Packers coach was Greenfield native Mike McCarthy, said he's been around many Pittsburgh people over the years and loved his time with all of them. "I've learned to speak the language really well, which has actually allowed me to follow and become a big fan of Pittsburgh Dad," he said. Pittsburgh Dad was flattered by the mention.
