LOS ANGELES, CA —Authorities are investigating what is being reported as an officer-involved fatal shooting Tuesday afternoon in East Los Angeles, according to KABC. According to the station, at around 3:15 p.m., a driver was shot by the CHP in an industrial area near the intersection of Indiana Street and Medford Street. A CHP officer told KABC that his department responded to the scene after a report of a two-car crash involving a Honda sedan and Chevrolet Camaro. However, the CHP revealed little more about the case, and did not give any details about what led up to the shooting, the station reported. A video shot from a news helicopter showed the Camaro surrounded by CHP vehicles, and another photo circulated on social media reportedly showed an officer with his gun pointed at the vehicle. KABC reported that residents said the man was unarmed, but appeared to be intoxicated. A witness, Dalilia Mendez, told KABC that during the the traffic stop, the man appeared to be obeying orders and putting his hands behind his head as he was told. "But I guess because he was kind of drunk when he was (turning) around he stumbled, and that's when they tasered him," Mendez told the station. "After they tasered him, I guess he was reaching at one of the cops. Then, that's when the cops shot him seven times." Fox 11 said officials did not give the identity of the shooter or the person who was shot, and said the CHP is investigating the incident.
