EVERGREEN PARK, IL — After several months in her "spare" time, Village Clerk Cathy Aparo completed a valuable project that will be a record for future generations and historians for years to come. Aparo digitalized the first eight years of Village of Evergreen Park minute and ordinance books, which will be on display this weekend during Oktoberfest. Volunteers from the Evergreen Park Historical Commission will greet visitors from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in the History Room at the Community Center. Though Evergreen Park was incorporated in 1893, a fire at the village hall in 1910 destroyed the records for 1893-1895. Aparo presented the Historical Commission with a digitized copy of this first volume of books from 1896 to 1904, which will be available for viewing in the display room that day. >>> Roll Out The Barrel Saturday For Evergreen Park 'Oktoberfest' The village is currently formatting this book to be available on its website at a later date. Digitization and restoration of other books is underway. "Please accept this copy of our original Evergreen Park history to keep with the Historical Commission records," Aparo told Historical Commission Chairman George Peso in a formal letter of appreciation. "Also, accept my gratitude for your most generous gift of time and for all you and the commission have done to preserve our history. It is my hope that everyone enjoys reading and knowing about Evergreen Park as much as I have over the years". Mr. Peso cordially invites you to visit the Museum in a personal video message.Hope to see you on Saturday
