BERKELEY, CA — A Berkeley bank robber got away with an unspecified amount of cash after using a note in the late Monday morning heist, police said. The suspect is described as a white man in his 60s, about 5 foot 8, with a medium build. He wore a dark jacket, shorts and a mask during the 11:48 a.m. robbery of Mechanics Bank at 2301 Shattuck Ave., police said. The robber fled the scene by the time responding officers arrived, according to police. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Berkeley Police Department at (510) 981-5900. Correction: A previous version of this article inaccurately reported that the bank did not provide authorities with surveillance video or photos of the robber. Police told Patch that authorities have not released surveillance or photos of the robber, not that the the bank didn't provide them.
