POSITION: Maintenance Assistant WAGE: $39,936 per year LOCATION: Varies APPLY AT: STATUS: Full Time with Benefits REPORTS TO: Maintenance Manager OPENING DATE: September 14, 2021 CLOSING DATE: Open until filled REQUIREMENTS: Driver License and proof of COVID-19 Vaccination or request for accommodation may be required. GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for assisting the Maintenance Manager with activities related to maintenance, repair, janitorial, and related needs of all IRCO sites. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Perform basic maintenance and replacement tasks (for example, repair sinks, replace light bulbs, unclog plumbing, paint walls, repair broken furniture, repair irrigation piping) • Assist with moving furniture, supplies, and other items from one location to another • Maintain grounds by weeding, pruning, trash pickup • Assemble furniture and equipment; receive deliveries • Remove damaged and unneeded items to recycling facilities or the dump • Set up chairs, tables and related items for community events SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: • Assist contractors with building access and other tasks • Stock janitorial and other supplies • Assist with maintenance of IRCO-owned vehicles JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS: Experience that would enable the applicant to perform the functions above KNOWLEDGE: Education: High School or GED Experience: 3-4 years of experience is required Licensure, Certification: None Additional Language Required: None Computers: All positions at IRCO require use of a computer and experience working with Microsoft Products including but not limited to Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. SKILLS: Communication: Some interaction with those inside and outside the organization to exchange factual information Creativity: Minimal need for the redesign of single focus process or procedure is needed EFFORT: Mental: There is minimal variation in tasks. The job holder is free to determine in which order tasks are completed, but cannot choose to not complete a task Physical: Positions at this level require moderate physical effort and manual labor such as carrying, constant movement, frequent lifting of light items, some lifting of moderately heavy objects. Driving is one of the MAJOR responsibilities RESPONSIBILITY: Impact and Influence: Minimal need or ability to analyze problem or concepts or make decisions on the information. Dollar amounts influenced would be considered small. Responsibility for the prudent use of assets does not extend beyond own work responsibilities. Work Independence: Positions perform routine work with regular supervision and generally are given instructions or written procedures. Positions occasionally encounter variation and are encouraged to suggest ways to respond, but can't take final action without approval Planning: Positions at this level must be able to foresee issues associated with own work and identify future needs for supplies, equipment, resources which would stall operations or activities. Supervision: Positions at this level are not responsible for any supervisory functions or responsibilities, but may occasionally be asked to orient and/or train new employees or volunteers. WORKING CONDITIONS: Environment: There is some personal risk or hazard. Job conditions are somewhat uncomfortable due to varying work environments; outside job tasks; inclement weather; exposure to chemicals; electricity; or individuals of unpredictable, possibly harmful intent Schedule: The work schedule is mostly stable and does not fluctuate without prior notice.
