8-year old, quieter Coonhound looking for a new home

Description

Calhoun is an eight-year-old, 50-pound Treeing Walker Coonhound - think of a larger beagle - looking for a "retirement home". Our family adopted him seven years ago and he has been a great dog. For a hound, he is extremely quiet and not too energetic. He is house-trained, neutered, fully up-to-date on vaccines, and is recently re-registered in Multnomah County. No major health issues. He loves snuggling (yes, on furniture) and is food motivated. Calhoun loves to be outside but has lived indoors since we've had him. He requires a decent walk each day (20 min plus) or plenty of backyard/outdoor time to keep him happy. Trips to the dog park and the beach are always fun for him. He gets along generally with other dogs and has lived with a cat since we adopted him. That said, he is being put up for adoption due to the stress of being around small kids (1- and 4-year-old) and needs a chance to be in a spot where he will not compete for attention or have a stressful existence. So are you a good fit for Calhoun? We are looking for someone that can improve his quality of life and allow him to live his golden years in a less stressful environment. Ideally, this would suggest a solo person, an empty-nester couple, a younger couple without kids (and none planned), or perhaps a family with older kids (middle school and up) that has space. He has been in an apartment for the past few years, so ideally someone with a yard or fenced acreage would be preferable. We are currently in northeast Portland, though Calhoun currently comes to our workplace in Troutdale. We are willing to meet or transport anywhere in Portland region, northwest Oregon, or southwest Washington.
