This workshop will help attendees with barriers to employment (arrests, convictions, disabilities) prepare for the Diverstiy Job Fair
For many, finding employment can be difficult . But, if given the proper resources and guidance, searching for a job will become easier. This workshop will provide information for men and women who've been having difficulty finding employment due to their lack of knowledge about how to apply for a job, how to format their resume, how to dress for interviews, etc. It's especially an even greater challenge for people who have arrests, convictions and disabilities to know how to share that information up front without being judged for their past mistakes or limitations.
Voice of the Experienced (VOTE) is a grassroots organization founded by and ran by formerly incarcerated people, our families and our allies. We are dedicated to restoring the full human and civil rights to those most impacted by the criminal (in)justice system. Together we have the experiences, expertise and power to improve public safety in Louisiana and beyond without relying on mass incarceration.
Presenters of the workshop will include staff and formerly incarcerated people (FIP) from VOTE, Goodwill, & Lousiana Workforce Commission . Our intentions will be to provide helpful information that can be used at the upcoming Diversity Job Fair and future job search for the attendees.
