Prima Voce Emerging Artists Fall Concert Series presents soprano Sunwoo Park, performing In the Beginning: A Singers Guide to Creation Sunwoo Park, Soprano In the Beginning: A Singers Guide to Creation A survey of eclectic art songs inspired by the seven days of creation with music by Haydn, Berg, Schumann, Purcell, Hoiby, Copland and others including two world premieres*. Vicki Ray’s “Forest Lake” and “Window in the Sky” by Leaha Villarreal. This Emerging Artists program was created in 2016 to give young performers a platform to grow, experiment and pursue projects that they are passionate about in a mentoring environment. The extraordinarily talented singers and pianists spend several months exploring repertoire and creating unique solo recital programs. They also have the opportunity to learn from the collective wisdom and experience of some of Los Angeles' most brilliant musical professionals including Gloria Cheng, Paul Floyd, Brent McMunn, HOCKET, Mark Robson and Lisa Sylvester. By creating this kind of expansive learning environment, the individual qualities of expression that define each of these special artists is encouraged and developed. Their programs include at least one world premiere of a new work from a well-established or up and coming composer that has been specifically commissioned for the young artist. La Prima Voce encourages our artists to broaden their choices and styles of presentation and to invent their own standard of a performance ideal. The culmination of the process is the presentation of public recital programs in which the audience witnesses the young professionals emerging into their promising careers.
