Hours: All Shifts Available including Weekend General Description: The Yard Jockey is responsible for the movement and spotting of trailers and containers to facilitate the needs of the warehouse in sorting and processing materials for shipment or storage. The Yard Jockey is responsible for the timely movements and thorough knowledge of on-hand inventory and positioning. Individual Job Duties: (The below is a general listing and should not be considered all inclusive) Assisting the Warehouse Manager in assuring accuracy and completion of the following: • Responsible to maintain a neat and orderly storage lot oriented toward maximizing efficiency in servicing the plant needs. • Operate Yard Truck in a safe manner involving loaded and empty trailers and containers. • Drive and operate vehicle under 15 mph in and around the warehouse and storage lot/staging area. • Must function and interact on a daily basis with warehouse personnel and comply with warehouse safety requirements. • Communicate using 2-way radio with dispatch, operations, and warehouse personnel. • Security of valuable commodities and the storage area itself are a major area of concern for the Yard Jockey • Thorough understanding and adherence of safety rules and regulations, and reporting requirements. • Other duties as assigned or requested. Work experience requirements: • 2 years relevant experience preferred • Excellent verbal and written communications skills. • Strong team player. • Possess a high regard for safety in the workplace
