Westborough Lions Host Annual Peace Poster Contest

The Westborough Lions Club is hosting its annual Peace Poster Contest for children 11-13 years old who reside in Westborough. The theme for this year's contest is: We are All Connected. There are four levels of competition: local, District 33A, State, and International. The Westborough Lions Club winner receives a monetary prize and moves on to the District 33A (Worcester County) contest. That winner moves on to the State Contest, where the winner will be chosen by December 15th. The State winner moves on to the International Contest, where the winner receives $5,000 and a trip to a special awards ceremony at the United Nations. An additional 23 Merit Award winners will be chosen at the international level, and they will receive $500 and a certificate of achievement. The posters will be judged on originality, artistic merit, and expression of the theme. A local art teacher will judge the posters. Posters will be hung at the Westborough Library for viewing near the Children's Room entrance the week of November 1st. The deadline to register for the contest is Friday, October 15th. Posters are due on October 29th. The Westborough winner will be chosen by November 6th. Students may register by emailing Lion Susan Ash at [email protected] with their name, age as of 11/15/21, parent's name, and school they attend.
