Description

BATS Board of Directors has 2 open volunteer positions: Treasurer and a Board Member with HR experience What is BATS: BATS Improv, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit professional theatre company and artistic community that innovates the craft of improvised theatre through engaging, playful, creative performance and training. Founded in 1987, we are the most highly acclaimed and longest-running improv company and school in Northern California. We pioneered narrative long-form improv performance over 30 years ago. In 1997 we moved to our current location, the 200 seat Bayfront Theatre, in the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco. Open Board Roles: We are seeking two new Board members that are interested in supporting improv in the Bay Area. The Board is a diverse group of fun people that help to support the Managing Director and Artistic Director as they guide BATS to the next part of the journey. A love of improv is appreciated and we are also happy to introduce you to improv if you are willing to learn more. The Board meets every other month currently by zoom for 2-3 hours. All Board members also participate in one committee (finance, marketing, fundraising, EDI) that meets monthly for 1-2 hours. Diversity is a core value at BATS Improv. We are passionate about building and sustaining an inclusive and equitable working environment as we continue our journey to be an anti-racist theater. We are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We are dedicated to building a team that reflects the communities we serve, including women, people of color, LGBTQ2S+ individuals, and people living with disabilities. Treasurer: The Treasurer is a core member of BATS Board leadership team which comprises the President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The Treasurer works closely with the Managing Director, chairs the finance committee and offers insight on financial processes and systems including monthly financial statement of activity, balance sheet, annual financial statements and the annual budget. Board Member with HR Expertise: We are seeking a Board Member to be an expert voice to ensure we are also including the importance of HR in board discussions. We are seeking a board member willing to give feedback on our EDI efforts and also to support the topics that arise for a smaller arts organization.
