Treat yourself to artifacts rarely on view in the Book Department of the Free Library of Philadelphia. Treat yourself to rarely seen artificats in the Book Department of the Free Library of Philadelphia. Items to be shown include: a signed confession by Abigail Hobbes during the Salem Witch Trials, Malleus Maleficarum, (or Hammer of Witches, a treatise on witchcraft) The Philly Tarot Deck ( a tarot deck with Philadelphia related designs) The Little Red Witch ironically a huge and heavy book), several old movie lobby cards from the Theatre Collection, and more. This in-person program will be limited to ten participants following COVID-19 saftey protocols. Special Collections enhance the educational mission of the Free Library by assembling and making accessible historic materials, providing reliable and knowledgeable research services, and offering instructional programs that promote understanding of our shared cultural heritage.
