The annual Veterans, Military Spouses, and Alaska residents job fair will be held on November 10, 2020, at the Midtown Mall in Anchorage. This Job Fair is FREE and OPEN to the PUBLIC. In honor of Alaska’s veterans, the department hosts the Veterans and Military Spouse Job Fair each November, connecting veterans and their family members with a network of employers. This is one of the largest hiring fairs in Alaska, and many Alaska employers use this event to find valuable military talent. More than 69,000 veterans call Alaska home, and Alaska has the highest concentration of veterans per capita in the nation. Veterans are an asset to the workforce because of their adaptability, dependability, problem solving skills, leadership, follow-through, ability to work as part of a team, and a strong sense of responsibility. BEST is an interagency collaboration between the Alaska Departments of Health and Social Services (DHSS) and Labor and Workforce Development (DOLWD) as well as other state and federal agencies dedicated to meeting the workforce needs of Alaska businesses while improving hiring outcomes for individuals with disabilities and veterans.
