The following was submitted by the Burlington Public Library: Adult Programs (In-Person Program) Sarah Prager Author Visit – Monday, October 4 at 7pm Sarah Prager is an advocate for queer history education particularly for youth. HarperCollins published her first book, Queer, There, and Everywhere: 23 People Who Changed the World, in May 2017, which was named an official selection of the Junior Library Guild, received five award nominations, and was named a Best Book for Teens 2017 by New York Public Library and Chicago Public Library. Learn the unknown history of some familiar historical figures! This talk is open to adults and students in middle school and high school. Preregistration is appreciated. (Virtual Program) BPL Chess Club – Tuesday, October 5 at 7pm Test your skills with a friendly afternoon of virtual chess. Join us on Zoom and play on your computer or mobile device as we bring the BPL Chess Club online using lichess.org. Play single games against other players or join the 50-minute tournament. Ms. Finn is a nationally renowned wealth management expert, who has been repeatedly named by Worth Magazine as one of the Top 100 Wealth Advisers in the United States. Presented in collaboration with the Burlington Public Library, the Flint Memorial Library and the Wilmington Memorial Library. Additionally, we have a book themed program for teens and children and a special Saturday afternoon puppet show. There is a videogame program for teens as well as the second meeting of the SoJust Club for middle school students. For more information on the events and to register, visit our Programs calendar at www.burlingtonpubliclibrary.org Programs Middle School SoJust Club – Wednesday, October 6 th at 3pm A social justice club empowering tweens to tackle tough topics and use their voice to make a difference in their community through education and service. Snacks served. Open to middle school students in 6th - 8th grade. Registration appreciated. Rick Riordan Book Party: Daughter of the Deep – Thursday, October 7 th at 4pm Best for grades 3-8. Celebrate the new book Daughter of the Deep with some fun themed activities and a chance to win a copy of the new book. Registration opens one week before the event. Teen Event: Smash Brothers Videogame Tournament – Friday, October 8 th at 3:30pm Students in 6th - 12th grade can join us for a videogame tournament on the Nintendo Switch. This month's game is Smash Brothers! Registration is required and begins October 1st . Pumpernickel Puppets Show – Saturday, October 9 th at 1pm John from Pumpernickel Puppets will put on Bugsy and Friends for us! Registration for this event opens on Saturday, October 2 nd . This event will be inside the library. Storytimes Baby Storytime (Birth-18 Months) - Mondays at 10:30am For caregivers with children ages birth–18 months. Delight and stimulate your baby's senses with books, songs and puppets! Toddler Storytime - Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:30am For caregivers with children ages 18-36 months. Interact with your toddler to nurture a love of books. Afternoon Storytime – Tuesdays at 3:30pm Best for ages 3-8. If you can't join us for storytime in the mornings, you can enjoy stories, songs, and fun in the afternoons! Preschool Storytime – Wednesdays at 11am For caregivers with children ages 3-6 years. Help your preschooler get ready to read! Enjoy stories together! Please note: Caregivers are expected to stay with children during all storytime sessions.
