Babcock Spring Company For over 100 years we’ve replaced, repaired and manufactured leaf springs for a variety of vehicles and trailers. We offer various other suspension work as well as alignments. We are seeking an eager candidate to come in and bring their current skillset to seamlessly fit in with our other mechanics. Assist our truck specialists as they replace leaf springs, king pins and other duties such as cleaning up around the shop, organizing tools and challenge themselves with trouble shooting situations. For over 100 years we’ve replaced, repaired and manufactured leaf springs for a variety of vehicles and trailers. We offer various other suspension work as well as alignments. We are looking for a skilled Auto Mechanic to maintain and repair vehicles. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and reporting what repairs need to be done so our Service Advisors can give proper estimates to customers. We are seeking a candidate who is knowledgeable in truck suspension and willing to learn more about the various suspensions we service at our shop. Outside of leaf springs we also service king pins, walking beams and recently began doing alignments on heavy duty trucks. Responsibilities Inspect suspension for necessary repairs. Check king pins, tie rod ends, drag link prior to alignment King Pin replacement. Heat and press out frozen king pins Walking beam re-bush. Remove beams from truck, press out bushings using 100 ton press and install new ones Repair or replace broken leaf springs on trailers, light duty pickup trucks and heavy duty trucks. Mack, Freightliner, Etc. Provide accurate estimates (cost, time, effort) for a repair or maintenance job Maintain equipment and tools in good condition, keep running list of all needed tools Skills Proven experience as auto mechanic Excellent knowledge of mechanical, specifically suspension components(e.g. tie rods, king pins, etc.) Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods Ability to handle air tools (e.g. impact wrench, air hammer ) Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents. Proper use of tools and equipment is a MUST. Safety is the top priority at all times! Physical strength is a plus as we move and lift heavy springs on a regular basis. Teamwork is always used when moving heavier parts High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is preferred Valid certification (e.g ASE) is a definite plus
