NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ — A New Brunswick man stabbed another Sunday night in the area of French Street between Harvey and Prospect streets, said New Brunswick Police and the Middlesex County Prosecutor. Police were called to that area at 11:50 p.m. Sunday and found a man with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to a local hospital and survived. Police say Santos Montoya, 29, of New Brunswick stabbed the victim with a knife that was recovered at the scene. Montoya was arrested Monday and charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder, one count of second-degree aggravated assault and one count of third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. The stabbing does not appear to be a random act, said police. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Coleman of the New Brunswick Police Department at (732)745-5200, or Detective Tighe of the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office at (732)745-4335.
