JERSEY CITY, NJ — A series of vigils will start on Tuesday night in front of Senator Bob Menendez's Jersey City office advocating for a pathway to citizenship in the budget reconciliation package.
Make the Road New Jersey planned nightly vigils starting at 7 p.m. from Tuesday through Thursday outside the senator's office to demand Congress ensure a pathway to citizenship in the budget reconciliation package.
In their own words, Make the Road New Jersey said vigil attendees, " Will also call on The Biden Administration to immediately stop the mass expulsion of Haitians, end systemic racist immigrations policies that demonize Black people, and to restore a fair process to seek asylum."
The group will be joined by Laundry Workers Center, Faith in New Jersey, Wind of the Spirit, Latino Action Network.
Democrats control the White House and both chambers of Congress. They must deliver for immigrant communities. Period. #WeAreHome— Make the Road Action 🦋 (@MaketheRoadAct) September 20, 2021
