PLEASANTON, CA — A woman was found dead over the weekend after she veered off of Interstate Highway 680 just south of Pleasanton and tumbled down an embankment. A 24-year-old resident of Antelope in Sacramento County was pronounced dead at the scene after a single-car crash was reported around 10:40 a.m. Sunday, south of Happy Valley Road, according to the California Highway Patrol and San Francisco Chronicle. She was in the fast lane when her black Mazda drifted into the center divider, then back across all the lanes to the right. The Mazda went down a dirt embankment and overturned multiple times, landing on its wheels approximately 75 feet down the hill. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighters. The Alameda County Coroner's Bureau did not respond Monday to a request seeking to identify the woman.
