OSWEGO, IL — An Oswego woman was driving out of DeKalb County Sunday morning when her car was hit at an intersection. Kristin Schwartz died that morning, leaving behind her daughter, Mackenzie. To cover funeral costs and help pay for a funeral service, Kristin's sister started a GoFundMe campaign that has earned thousands of dollars in just one day to help support her child. "Kristin was tragically taken from us in a fatal car accident the morning of September 26th," wrote Ashley McDowell, the fund's organizer and Kristin's sister. "She did everything she could to hold on, but the damage was too much [and] she had to let go. She will be missed by everyone she had in her life [and] then some." Although the Kendall County Sheriff's Office is still investigating the nature and cause of the crash, Deputy Detective Dan Briars told Patch that Kristin was driving east out of DeKalb and into Kendall County on North 4650th Road — where the street turns into Rogers Road. She stopped at a stop sign at the intersection with Millington Road, and after starting to drive forward, another car, driving north, crashed into hers. A visitation is scheduled at Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, located at 1617 N. Bridge St. in Yorkville, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. A prayer service will follow from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. "Thank you so much for everyone's generosity in this insanely hard time," McDowell wrote. "We are so thankful for the support we've received so far." The family didn't respond to Patch's request for comment at the time of publication. GoFundMe is a Patch promotional partner.
