OAK LAWN, IL — Although Alessandra Gabriel is only a freshman, she is no stranger to success in the pool. And she is certainly making a splash for the Oak Lawn Community High School varsity swim team this season. Last week she swam a personal best time of 6:05.97 in 500-yard freestyle against Bremen and Shepard, and she also helped the 200-yard medley relay finish with a time of 2:03.14 in a meet with Lemont and TF United.
"Alie has been a wonderful addition to our varsity squad this year as an incoming freshman," said head coach Derek Maciaga. "She leads our Lane 2 swimmers in practice and always works hard with a great attitude. In fact, the time of 2:03.14 for the 200-medley relay is the best mid-season time for that event in a long time. Look for Alie to continue to drop times throughout the season and perform well at the South Suburban Conference meet."
