Description

CONCORD, NH — Concord fire and rescue teams were sent to Fort Eddy Road for a store fire that was quickly knocked down on Monday. At just after 8:30 p.m., capital region dispatch received a report of smoke in the Petco building on Fort Eddy Road. A team of firefighters arrived about three minutes later. Firefighters found smoke throughout the building and fire alarms going off. About 10 minutes after the initial call, the battalion commander requested more firefighters. The commander said there was a working fire, and the sprinklers were keeping it "in check," but more firefighters would be needed. Dispatch requested mutual aid from Hooksett and Hopkinton but a few minutes later, the extra firefighters were called off. "At this time," the commander said, "we have one line down in operation … we're going to be shutting the sprinklers down and send fire prevention … and you can cancel Hooksett engine and Hopkinton ambulance, and hold Engine 5 at central." The fire was under control at just before 9 p.m. NEWS 603 posted video footage on YouTube.com. Got a news tip? Send it to [email protected].
