Description
Hi, I'm a 40-year-old trans woman and I'm trying to start a new band.
I've been playing music in Colorado for a long time, but at this point, most of my musician friends have families and careers and I am having a hard time finding people my age who can commit to weekly practices and hopefully, eventually, playing shows fairly regularly. I have LOTS of examples of me playing if you're interested, but I've always said I sound like John Samson if he was a depressed emo transbien on a huge Neil Young bender. Raw and emotional performances, lyrics honest enough they're meant to make people feel a little uneasy at their frankness, punk heart - Americana framework. I've been really digging Ezra Furman a bunch lately, but my top 5 are probably Television, Neil Young, Propagandhi, The Lawrence Arms, and Shellac.
If that sounds interesting, I have a bassist, guitarist, keyboardist, and potentially a sax player or two who've had a couple practices with me. I've got something like a dozen songs and have been playing them live for a couple of years as a solo thing, but I don't seem to be happy unless I'm playing with friends. Age, gender, race and class don't really matter, but Women, queers, leftists, and trans folks to the front of the line. If you are committed to playing music, feel like you have some skill level you are proud of, and things like family and career don't get in the way, hit me up.
