Coronavirus Cases On The Rise In Central Bucks Schools

DOYLESTOWN, PA — Fifty-four students and staff members at Central Bucks schools tested positive for the coronavirus last week, according to the district's COVID-19 dashboard. That's a nearly 60 percent increase over the number of cases within the district the previous week and more than double the number of cases reported the week before. Central Bucks reported 19 total cases across 10 of its schools during the first week of the 2021-22 school year, which started Aug. 30, the dashboard shows. Central Bucks School Board To Choose New Member Tuesday Twenty-five cases were reported across 13 schools between Sept. 6 and Sept. 12, with 34 total cases across 14 schools the following week, according to the district's data. Last week, officials reported 54 total coronavirus cases at 18 of the district's 23 schools. Thirty-one of those cases were reported at Central Bucks elementary schools, while 16 were reported across the district's three high schools. Scaled-Back Doylestown Arts Festival Drew 'Incredible' Turnout There were five coronavirus cases across Central Bucks' five middle schools last week, according to the COVID-19 dashboard. Two administrative staff members for the district also tested positive last week. Doyle and Linden elementary schools are the only schools in Central Bucks that did not report a positive coronavirus case among students or staff through the first four weeks of the 2021-22 year, the district's data shows. No cases have been recorded in the district's transportation unit. Central Bucks High Schools Ranked Among PA's Top 25 Central Bucks high schools have reported the most coronavirus cases since the start of the new school year, with 14 at Central Bucks East and 13 each at South and West. The district has reported 132 total cases since Aug. 30, according to its data. Central Bucks School District employs more than 3,000 faculty and staff members to serve 18,000-plus students in its 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and three high schools. At least 89 children 12 and under in Bucks County tested positive for the coronavirus between Sep. 20 and Sep. 24, with 77 additional cases among those aged 12-18, the county health department said.
