INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MN — A Safety and Mental Health Alternative Response Training Center opened in Inver Grove Heights on Monday, according to a report in The St. Paul Pioneer Press.
The SMART center, located on Highway 52 near Inver Hills Community College, will give law enforcement a place to learn how to handle crisis calls, the report said.
The center will also offer de-escalation training for first responders and will give the Minnesota Crisis Intervention Team an office and training space, the publication reported.
There are five training rooms, and trainings can be recorded so first responders can watch themselves and receive feedback, according to the report.
