Home Manager / Skills Trainer for young adult with Aspergers
$15 / hour direct care position for part-time (20 - 24 hour / week)
Looking for an exceptional person to work with a young Autistic man (high functioning Asperger’s) to assist him in performing activities of daily living as he strives to become independent. Seeking assistance to enhance his skills including coping, cooking, cleaning, hygiene, self-care, and interacting with others appropriately in normal everyday activities. Additionally, he should be encouraged to incorporate daily exercise, regular social activities, and other beneficial behaviors. Assist through the use of schedules, checklists, and reminders to maintain consistency and good work habits.
We are looking for someone who can perform these duties:
Maintain household (cooking, cleaning, general upkeep, and other chores as needed)
Grocery shopping, general errands, transportation to appointments
Teach cleaning, cooking, basic chores, healthy eating, exercise, and other skills
Guide in learning personal goals of budgeting, self-care, etc.
Help assist social development and personal enrichment
Help enforce positivity, coping strategies, self-confidence while providing encouragement
Dog care
Assist with employment goals
Some general yard upkeep
Light administrative duties as needed
Other tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma / GED
Must pass background check and have clean driving record
Desired Qualifications Include:
College degree in psychology, social work, or similar field
Interest in autism
Computer proficient
Responsible adulting skills
Organized and mature
Need a mature, honest, dependable caregiver who is willing to commit a minimum of one year to this position. You would be an integral team member of an involved family.
