Title: Serviceperson I (Water/Sewer) Wages/Hours: $22.28-$26.08 (2021 hourly pay range) 40 Hrs/Wk. (7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. / ½ hr. lunch) Closing Date: Open Until Filled (Posted 9/24/21) Early application submission encouraged. Position Description: Performs entry-level work under direct supervision. Assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the Town of Steilacoom’s water/sewer utilities. Minimum Qualifications: 1. High School diploma or GED equivalent. 2. Must be able to comply with all requirements pertaining to the position as outlined in the Washington Administrative Codes (WAC). 3. Possess a valid Washington State Driver’s License. 4. Verification of good driving record (do not include abstract with application). 5. Possess the physical strength/agility to perform the work of the position (as listed in the job analysis). 6. Must be able to understand/execute written/oral instruction. 7. Pass a background check. 8. With a CDL, must be subject to random drug/alcohol testing. Desired Qualifications (It is desired that the applicant be in possession of the following or have the ability to obtain the following within 6 months of date of hire.) 1. Washington Industrial First Aid Certificate 2. Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation Certification 3. Washington State Flagging Card 4. Washington State Class “B” Combination Driver’s License with tanker endorsement. 5. Water Distribution Specialist I Certification Physical Requirements: The position requires the incumbent be able to drive town vehicles, operate equipment associated with the position, and perform strenuous physical labor in a safe manner. The incumbent must be able to lift/move up to 60 lbs. There is frequent walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing ladders. The incumbent must be able to work safely in confined spaces. In this position, there is exposure to inclement weather, loud noises, extreme heat/cold and hazardous materials. Terms of Employment: • This is a full-time position offering associated benefits. • The position requires responding to after-hour emergencies. • The incumbent may elect to be covered under a collective bargaining agreement with Teamsters Union Local 117. • The incumbent must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless, exempt for qualifying medical/religious reasons (proof of vaccination required).
