Description

Season Opener Back to Live Music ! After nearly a year and a half, the UMW Philharmonic presents its first concert performance at Dodd Auditorium on Saturday, October 2nd at 8PM. This concert features our UMW student strings players, joined by several Philharmonic community players. With the challenges of the last year or more, the UMW Philharmonic has maintained its presence at the University and Fredericksburg community. Join us for this intimate performance of some of the world’s most beloved strings music. On the concert program are selections from the vast repertory of strings music, including Bela Bartôk’s Romanian Folk Dances, selections from Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings and Brahms’s Hungarian Dances. The focal point of the concert is the performance of J.S. Bach’s Double Violin Concerto, featuring UMW students Kelsey Payne and Michael Lee as soloists. We also invite you to join us in the lobby following the performance for a Meet-and-Greet of ALL performers. Please bring a mask. To try to minimize risk for the spread of the virus, we are limiting the audience to 200 seats, with reservation required. (The concert is free and you can choose your own seat; 15 minutes before the concert the seat selection will be open to those with reservations.) Parking is available in the lot behind Dodd Auditorium. One additional important note: each audience member must present either a vaccination card (showing a complete COVID vaccination) OR a negative COVID test dated no later than Sept. 30, 2021. We realize that this is an inconvenience, but we want to do everything we can to keep our students and supporters safe and healthy.
