Frac Water Heater Operator Job Description: BASIC FUNCTIONS The Frac Water Heater Operator operates the Frac Heater. The Frac Heater rapidly heats large quantities of frac water used in a frac job. Frac water stored in frac tanks, temporary pools, ponds, or reservoirs is circulated through the burner box and elevated to a pre-determined temperature using propane or natural gas as fuel. All duties of the Frac Heater Operator are to be performed according to the company operating procedures to maximize the safety of all personnel at the work site and to efficiently perform the task. REQUIREMENTS Pass the company’s drug, alcohol, and background screens. Complete the company’s “Physical Function Assessment”. Possess a valid driver’s license. Maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record to be an approved company driver. Acceptable criminal history. Ability to read, write and speak English to take required trainings, understand verbal and written instructions as well as give verbal and written instructions in English. Ability to use simple mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals (addition, subtraction, division and multiplications) to make job related calculations. Own and be able to use a Smart Phone to send business receipts and reports daily. Heavy Work- Exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Medium Work. This position requires lifting and carrying, pulling or pushing, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and climbing ladders or stairs while working either indoors or outdoors. While performing the job, will be required to lift/carry, pull/push, reach, squat, kneel, and or climb ladders or stairs. This position requires the ability to wear personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, face shields, goggles, ear plugs, hard hat, steel toed boots, H2S personal gas monitor, fire retardant clothing, and gloves. Working conditions for this position may involve exposure to varying environmental conditions. This may include chemicals, gases, cold/heat, noise, dampness, dust, fumes, radiation, and heights. Must have basic knowledge of the oilfield and related equipment associated with trucking, heating, and pumping of fluids used in the oil field applications. Must have the ability to operate the Frac heater and use it in a safe efficient manner. Desired Skills: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 1. The Frac Water Heater Operator will drive to location to operate the frac water heater. Under field supervision operates mechanical controls that transfers frac water from its source, through the heater, to its destination. This position requires the employee to lift hoses from the racks on the units, make up and lay the hoses from the frac water source to the unit and from the unit to its destination. It requires the Operator to monitor the unit, light the heater, and control an open flame in a safe manner. 2. This position requires the Operator to maintain accurate work papers based on the company requirements and the work performed for the customer as well as the ability to stay alert and maintain long work hours. 3. This position is responsible for alerting appropriate supervision when and issues occur and/or mechanical defects are noted on the unit. 4. Knowledge of basic mechanical and maintenance concepts is required for this position to perform light to heavy repairs as may be required. This position requires the use of hand tools and other equipment associated with the unit. 5. This position requires various types and levels of job-related training with respect to the operations of the equipment and standard operating procedures and also other specialized training as required by regulatory agencies, customers, and the company. 6. Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness and complies with all applicable safety and environmental procedures and regulations. Ensures compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and guidelines. Adheres to company policies and work requirements. 7. Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
