Olivia’s Ocean is a new opera for all ages commissioned by the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies. Olivia, a 13-year old girl living in Corpus Christi, loves to go out on the boat with her Grandpa. After she accidentally knocks her styrofoam cup into the water, she dreams about singing, dancing, sea creatures, who accuse humans of destroying their environment. The next day, Olivia sneaks out alone, resolved to do her part to clean up the ocean. But what happens if a storm comes and there is no one to save her? Can her sea creature friends help? Join Olivia as she learns valuable lessons about ocean sustainability and about herself. The rollicking musical score has tunes you will love to sing along with, influenced by many different musical styles.
