A community celebration of Career & Technical Education in Yuma County! Please join us in the next initiative of our ABEC program! Join us as we celebrate the success of our Career & Technical Education (CTE) initiative with the Yuma Arizona Business & Education Coalition (Yuma ABEC). This partnership of education and practical skills has helped students advance to become outstanding and productive members of society. At this event we will Provide Morning Coffee to help energize you.Provide Lunch to satiate your appetite to engage.Showcase Educators who have implimented these tools and became Teacher of the Year recipients.Inspiring Live Remarks from State Representative Tim Dunn, ABEC President & CEO Dick Foreman, and beloved Yuma County School Superintendent Tom Tyree.Highlight ABEC Toolkit which hosts a variety of options and solutions to collaberate or partner with.Joint Keynote by Jeremy Bouts, creator of EdgeFactor, and Larissa Hofman.Doors open at 9:30 am and first presenter will start at 10 am! The Yuma ABEC Project has grown substantially, from two modules the first year, to approximately 45 modules being delivered in the classroom on a daily basis, impacting approximately 3,000 middle school students. ABOUT YUMA ABEC: The Yuma ABEC Project provides students with business-led, career-based activities that lead to discovery and nurturing of career aspirations and connection of education to the real world of work leading students to become their own best advocate as they transition into high school, identify and select appropriate and rigorous coursework, and put themselves on the path to success. In collaboration with Yuma business and community partners, and utilizing the tools in the Yuma ABEC Toolkit, students in the Yuma ABEC Project are provided with: Career exploration activities and curriculum which lead to the development of an Education Career Action Plan that follows them into high school and beyondHands-on projects and real-world experiences from experts in the fieldAcademic relevanceIntroduction to technical skills and soft skillsLeadership developmentAge-appropriate industry certification aligned to in-demand industry needs.The Yuma ABEC Project, which facilitates business and education partnerships for the purpose of creating career exploration opportunities for student at an earlier age that are linked to and aligned with future state and local economic and industry needs and expectations. This engagement event is to challenge the Yuma community champions of industry to engage and explore opportunities and assist in unlocking tomorrow's potential.
