Help us deter catalytic converter theft by etching your license number onto your vehicle's catalytic converter.
The Milpitas Police Department has partnered with Piercey Honda and Piercey Toyota to offer two free catalytic converter etching events on October 6, 2021, and on October 20, 2021. The events run from 8am to 12pm on both days and Milpitas residents can bring their vehicles to have garage technicians etch their license plate numbers on the catalytic converters.Catalytic Converter thefts have increased since the beginning of 2020. Etching a serial number on a catalytic converter can help deter thefts, can stop thieves from being able to sell stolen catalytic converters, and can assist in prosecuting criminals when stolen catalytic converters are found.Registration is required to participate and is open only to Milpitas Residents. Registration is limited to the first 32 vehicles and can be done on the Eventbrite website. To complete registration you will need your vehicle's license plate number and VIN number. The VIN can most easily be found on the driver's side dashboard or on a sticker in the driver's side front door jam. All information collected will be forwarded to Piercey Honda and Piercey Toyota for garage registration. At the time of the appointment, participating residents must provide proof of residency and a copy of their vehicle's registration, and must complete an event waiver. For questions or additional information, please contact Det.
