The Florida Gators hit the road in SEC play for the first time this year with a trip to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats. Don’t be fooled by the Gators’ domination in this series over the last few decades; this is likely going to be a four quarter fight. Among the things to watch for on Saturday:
-Emory Jones became the first Florida quarterback since Tim Tebow to pass for 200+ yards and rush for 100+ in the same game last week against Tennessee. Now, though, he’s making his first road start in the SEC- against a team that’s already 2-0 in conference play.
-Florida has beaten Kentucky 33 times in the schools’ past 34 meetings. But that doesn’t mean this series hasn’t produced some hair-raising moments for Gator fans in the Bluegrass State. Each of Florida’s last three victories in Lexington have been decided by a single possession.
-After spending the first month of the season outside the top ten of the AP Poll, the Gators finally snuck into that top ten after beating Tennessee. Florida has lost the last three games it has played as a top ten team- the last three games of the 2020 season.
