Exploring the Intersection of Racial Justice & Restorative Justice
The University of St. Thomas School of Law’s new Initiative on Restorative Justice and Healing and UST’s Racial Justice Initiative are proud to co-sponsor a searching exploration of the intersection of racial justice and restorative justice. This unique event will be highlighted by a keynote address by Dr. Yohuru Williams, the Founder of UST’s Racial Justice Initiative, who will describe the critical role of understanding the history of racial discrimination in this country before addressing racial justice issues.
Dr. Williams will be followed by two panel presentations. The first will demonstrate the types of local community restorative justice programs in which UST law students have participated. The second panel will explore the role of faith and understanding in seeking racial justice thru restorative justice. The event will conclude with an invitation for those present or watching to continue to explore the issues presented by participating in small group healing circle sessions on future dates.
Registration is required for the presentation and the event has been submitted for CLE credits. Reception to follow.
