AUBURNDALE, FL — A 37-year-old Auburndale man confessed to his mother Saturday night that he had just killed his girlfriend, Polk County Sheriff's Office said. Jason Robinson's mom called the Auburndale Police Department at about 8:30 p.m. to report what he told her. Polk County Sheriff's Office checked for the girlfriend's body at the couple's RV on U.S. Highway 98 North near Keen Road in unincorporated Auburndale. Robinson was arrested on a give false ID to law enforcement officer charge shortly after a deputy arrived and asked him to identify himself. A fake name and false date of birth was given to the officer. As the deputy tried to put Robinson in handcuffs, he is accused of attacking him. During the scuffle, Robinson allegedly choked the deputy. Two people saw the commotion and helped the officer escape his grip, according to investigators. He then placed him in handcuffs. Robinson is also accused of taking the officer's radio and Taser during the attack. A pallet that had two chairs and a small table on top was placed over the burial area by the suspect, detectives said. "I can't express my gratitude enough to the two witnesses who jumped in to aid my deputy during a violent fight with a very violent man." Sheriff Grady Judd said. "Had they not gotten involved, this could have been much worse than it already is. I'd also like to extend our condolences to the family of the victim." Grady Judd, Sheriff. Robinson faces the following charges, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office: First degree murderPossession of a firearm by a convicted felonBatter on a law enforcement officerTampering with evidenceResisting with violenceDepriving an officer with means of communicationGiving False ID to law enforcement officer Deputies said Robinson also has an extensive criminal history in Illinois, Mississippi, Delaware and North Carolina.
