Join us for a historic walking tour of downtown Kalamazoo! All 2021 tours will require face masks regardless of vaccination status. We are committed to protecting the health of our patrons and staff. If you are unable to wear a mask we ask that you please join us next year. About the Tour Modeled after the ghost tours found in big cities all over the country, the Ghosts of Kalamazoo Historic Tour hopes to provide history with a twist — delivering the weird, the haunted, and the historic stories found throughout Kalamazoo. We’re a change of pace from the typical October haunted attraction scene. We’re not trying to frighten anyone, promise any spiritual encounters, do any “Ghostbusting”, etc. There are a TON of great and weird stories around Kalamazoo, and it’s our mission to tell them! Your ticket will be good for a 45-60-minute walking tour around downtown Kalamazoo. Tours depart the starting location every twenty minutes with the last tour leaving at 8:00 pm. Tickets are $10/night in advance (plus fees), $15/night at the door if walk-up tickets are available. Walk-up tickets are not guaranteed and we may sell out prior to the event. We limit our tour groups to ensure that everyone can hear and has a quality experience. Children under 12 are discouraged from going on the Tours. All children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Ghosts of Kalamazoo Historic Tour is owned and operated by JCI Kalamazoo and is staffed by a group of dedicated and loyal volunteers. Tour History Since 1981, JCI Kalamazoo (formerly the Kalamazoo Jaycees) has held a “haunted” event in the month of October in order to raise needed funds for worthy causes in our community. In 2007, we debuted a new event unique to the area – the Ghosts of Kalamazoo Historic Tour. We sold out two nights and donated $1,900 to Generous Hands, Inc. in that first year. In 2008, we sold out six nights and donated over $4,300 to Warm Kids. Our third year raised over $2,600 – despite fighting nasty weather on many of the Tour nights. Thanks to wonderful weather and huge crowds the 2010-2012 and 2019 Tours shattered all previous records for attendance and money raised. The success has continued over the years and this year we are celebrating our 15th year of tours! In total, we have given over $40,000 to local charities since 2007. Who we are helping: Proceeds from this year’s tours will go directly to JCI Kalamazoo to fund amazing projects that serve Kalamazoo and help us build the future leaders of our community! Questions?
