It is highly recommended that participants wear sturdy walking shoes, weather appropriate clothing, and may wish to use sunscreen or bug spray. The site was the summer home of the Cooper & Hewitt family, owners of the Cooper & Hewitt Iron Company during the 19th century. Donated to the State of New Jersey in 1938, the home is fully furnished in all the original contents of the family and includes more than 1,000 acres of historic gardens and landscapes. The site hosts numerous public tours, events, and programs throughout the year.
