EAST MEADOW, NY — A dog was rescued from a house fire in East Meadow early Saturday, and is going to make a full recovery.
According to police, a call came in at 11:45 a.m. on Sept. 25 for a house fire on Prospect Avenue. The first officers on the scene entered the home to search for anyone inside. With the help of the East Meadow Fire Department, they found an unconscious dog and got it outside.
First responders gave the dog oxygen on the lawn of the home, and after a few minutes it woke up. The dog was unharmed.
One police officer was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. The East Meadow Fire Department put out the blaze.
