Fatal Crash On New Hampshire Avenue Under Investigation

SILVER SPRING, MD — A man riding a motorcycle was killed Sunday afternoon when he collided with a Toyota Corolla at the New Hampshire Avenue and Northampton Drive intersection in Silver Spring. The motorcyclist was driving south on New Hampshire Avenue, heading toward Northampton Drive, Montgomery County Police said. The Toyota Corolla was heading north on the road and attempted to make a left on Northampton Drive, according to police. The motorcycle hit the car in the southbound lane, causing the driver of the motorcycle to be ejected from his seat, police said. The crash happened around 2:25 p.m. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at a local hospital, and the driver of the Toyota Corolla was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The motorcyclist has not been identified — police said they will release his name when family has been notified. Montgomery County's Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating the collision, and is asking anyone with information about it to call 240-773-6620.
