It doesn't appear to be a washout, mainly cloudy and chances of rain at varying times. The unsettled weather ends late Tuesday. CT teen, 16, shot, killed A Hartford family is speaking out after their child, Wildemar Santiago, 16, a student at Weaver High School, was shot and killed around 1 a.m. Monday, WFSB 3 TV reports. Police said the teen was the target of the shooting, and he was walking on a sidewalk at the time of the incident. A family member told WFSB 3 TV that "We need to do better. We need to do better. These young kids are not getting to sprout out to young grown men. Kids are being left without brothers. Fathers. Moms are left without sons. Aunts without nephews. This is so sad..." That's been the big question since Friday when it was revealed that nearly 300 school bus drivers may not show up to work Monday, or today, due to Gov. Lamont's mandate that they either be vaccinated or comply with weekly testing. School districts have cautioned parents that there may be delays on Monday, but we don't know currently how big an issue it was. The Stamford Public Schools posted Monday morning, "Please be advised, due to a temporary shortage of school bus drivers, your child's bus may run later than usual, in both the morning and afternoon. We apologize for the inconvenience." In Brookfield, Superintendent John Barile sent an email to parents Monday morning, notifying them that all bus routes will be covered, despite the transportation company being "a few drivers short," and some of the busses maybe running late. Patch readers reported that the 7:50 a.m. bus to Hillside Intermediate School showed up 80 minutes late, and there was a 50-minute delay in Wallingford. One Stamford parent told us he doesn't know exactly how late his Rippowam Middle School students' bus was, because he got tired of waiting for it and just drive them in. If you experienced a delay with the school bus this morning, please email [email protected] and let us know the town/school. We'll continue to update this story all morning, please check back for more updates.
