"The Individual Artists Project Grants Program is truly a collaborative effort between our department and the many outstanding artists who call San Antonio home," said Department of Arts & Culture Interim Executive Director Krystal Jones. "It is exciting to see the program come full circle with the support of 30 talented individuals and new and incredible artworks for residents and visitors to experience, enjoy and share." Under the guidance of the department's overarching Cul-Tú-Art Plan, the grant program is administered with equity as a priority. Grant applications were not only evaluated by a panel of experts in each artistic discipline, but additional points were also provided to artists who self-described as a person of racial and/or ethnic color, woman, LGBTQIA+, veteran, and/or living or operating their studio in a census tract that is historically disadvantaged as shown on the City of San Antonio's Equity Atlas. The Department of Arts & Culture's website is home to a San Antonio Artist Registry, which provides in-depth profiles for each granted artist as well as over 300 artists across the city.
