Driver Pulled From Car After Crash With Light-Rail in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A crash between the light-rail train and a car in Jersey City ended with firefighters pulling the driver from a stuck car. The crash was reported around 9 a.m. at the intersection of Essex and Hudson Streets in Jersey City, according to NJ Transit officials. The Hudson-Bergen line light-rail and a car crashed, leaving the car stuck near the tracks. Jersey City firefighters had to pull the driver from the car and bring them to the hospital — officials said the driver had non-life threatening injuries. There were 31 people on the train at the time, including the train operator. No one on the train was injured, NJ Transit officials said. Service was temporarily suspended but, as of 11 a.m. has been restored. An investigation into the crash is being led by NJ Transit police.
