Welcome to the Sacramento Daily Patch Newsletter! This is where you will find all of the best news and events happening in Sacramento for Tuesday September 28th, 2021! First, today's weather: Clear throughout the day. High: 78 Low: 52. Here are the top stories today in Sacramento: A fire in an overpass on Hwy 160 revealed that someone had been living inside the overpass "for quite some time." Firefighters found a mattress and an end table, among other items, that someone had been using as a home. This is not the first time firefighters have been called to this overpass for an internal fire. Caltrans is currently assessing the damage and stability of the bridge. Although early reports indicate the fire did not burn enough to cause any substantial damage, fire officials said. (KCRA3) A fire alarm was definitely not part of the show, but the audience for Hamilton had the experience anyway just before the show got underway on Saturday afternoon at the SAFECU Convention Center. It took about 30 minutes for firefighters to clear the auditorium before officials let people back in to enjoy the show. Hamilton will run at the convention center through October 10. (CBS Sacramento)Hundreds of CVS stores across California, and many in Sacramento, are now offering the Pfizer booster shot. People who are age 65 and older, residents in long-term care centers, anyone between ages 50 and 64 who have high risk underlying medical conditions and those with weakened immune systems are qualified for a third dose. You can sign up online if you are in one of these eligible groups. Boosters are only available to those who have received two Pfizer vaccines doses. No guidance has been issued for people who received either the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson shots. (FOX40)It could have been a lot worse when police pulled over a driver in a vehicle that matched a description of one that a 911 caller gave them. The caller reported a shooting on Fair Oaks Blvd in Citrus Heights. After police pulled the vehicle over they discovered the driver had been shot. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. Astute police officers may have prevented the driver from continuing on and doing much more damage as his medical emergency unfolded. Police said they cannot release any more information regarding this case because it is still an active investigation. They are asking those who do have information to call 916-727-5524. (ABC10)The North Valley Rail Vision is a proposed extension of the already underway North Valley Rail Project that will eventually extend rail from Stockton to Elk Grove, downtown Sacramento, and Natomas. The Vision would mean a train extension from Natomas to connections in Marysville, Oroville, and Chico. "Bringing back train service to Marysville would be an economic spark to ignite to revitalization of our downtown," says Jim Schaad, Marysville's City Manager. "It would tie together a critical corridor between Butte County, Marysville and Sacramento." They are working on getting funding in place, but there is a lot of excitement about the project from 29 partners who represent transit agencies, colleges, cities, and counties throughout the region.
