PITTSBURGH, PA — New WTAE-TV reporter Ashley Zilka won't need much time to become familiar with the area. She's a native of Rostraver, Westmoreland County, and a Duquesne University graduate. She also won't need a GPS to locate her new place of employment. In 2010, Zilka was an intern for WTAE anchor Mike Clark. Zilka comes to WTAE from KSTP-TV in Minneapolis. She recently announced her move back to Pittsburgh on social media. "I don't take this opportunity lightly. It has been a dream of mine to work in my hometown," she stated in a recent Facebook post. "When I was in journalism school at Duquesne University, I knew I wanted to work around the country, but it was always my goal to come back home to the Steel City...I cannot wait to meet my new colleagues and build a relationship with the Pittsburgh community. It's a place where I already feel so connected." According to the KSTP biography, Zilka came to Minnesota from WCPO-TV in Cincinnati. She also has worked at WROC-TV in Rochester and WHIZ-TV in Zanesville, Ohio. Be the first to know what's happening in your community and region.
