Three Retail Theft Arrests Made In Plainfield In Last Month: Cops

PLAINFIELD, IL — Three people were arrested in Plainfield in the last month and charged with retail theft, Plainfield police reported Monday. Romeoville resident Marissa A. Burt, of Honeybear Lane, was arrested at Plainfield's Walmart Supercenter Aug. 20. The 43-year-old was charged with theft after police said she concealed and removed merchandise from the store, located at 12690 S. Route 59. Officials listed the charge as "permissive inference" in Monday's report, meaning prosecutors likely don't have direct evidence Burt stole the items police said they recovered from her. Fifty-year-old Afreen Fatima Abedi, of the 12700 block of South Terrace Boulevard in Plainfield, was arrested Sept. 17, police reported. She was also charged with retail theft at the Walmart Supercenter. The charge claims the woman used an under-ring method to steal, meaning a lesser amount was charged for an item priced higher. Three days later, 32-year-old Amber L. Noonan, of the 100 block of East Elm Street in Braidwood, was arrested at the Plainfield Police Department. Noonan was charged with retail theft after police said she took merchandise from a local business Sept. 20. Police didn't indicate where the theft occurred. Plainfield police didn't respond to Patch's request for comment to provide further details at the time of publication. Police report information is provided by local police departments.
