PHILADELPHIA — A man who said he was a police officer during a robbery and stabbing last year in Philadelphia has been convicted, authorities said. According to the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office, Yuseph Cross, 38, was found guilty after a waiver trial on charges of impersonating a public servant, robbery, aggravated assault with serious bodily harm, and conspiracy. The charges stemmed from an Oct. 4 incident. On that date, two intoxicated men were sleeping in a vehicle on the 400 block of Hoffman Street in the city's Wharton section when at about 4 a.m. a man, later identified as Cross, and a woman came up to the vehicle and said they were police. Authorities said Cross and the woman, who is awaiting trial in connection with this incident, got access to the vehicle, and Cross grabbed one of the victim's backpack. The victim asked for the bag back and a struggle broke out, during which the woman held down the victim, who Cross then stabbed in the lower abdomen, authorities said. Cross and the woman were taken into police custody at the scene. The victim recovered from his injuries. Cross is scheduled for sentencing in December.
