Fox Fall Fest To Kick Off October Festivities In Downtown Oswego

OSWEGO, IL — October is right around the corner, and to kick off the start of the month of Halloween, the Fox Fall Fest returns to downtown Oswego Saturday and Sunday. The free event — prolonged to two days this year — will start with an '80s-themed concert at 7 p.m. Saturday. The Jolly Ringwalds will perform, and guests are encouraged to show up decked out in their '80s outfits. If they don't have pieces readily available, organizers are selling '80s swag, which includes a Fannie pack, graphic tee, koozie and glow bracelets, for $30 online. To get a preview of the "ultimate '80s experience" band ahead of their upcoming performance, The Jolly Ringwalds have videos of past shows up on their website. Saturday's festivities start at 6 p.m. ahead of the concert, which is scheduled to end around 10 p.m. Fox Fall Fest's regular programming that includes the artisan market, food trucks, live music and kids activities will take place on Main Street in Oswego from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Parents can pre-order activity bags for their children for $6 or $7 on the day of the fest. In the bag, kids will find a River the Fox temporary tattoo, a mini pumpkin and decorating kit, a ping pong ball and tickets for games. They'll also find some candy in the bag as well as a few surprises, organizers said on the event's Facebook listing. Kids' activity bags and '80s concert swag can be purchased through the Fox Fall Fest's website. Items can be picked up at the Flair booth or other marked locations at the fest Saturday and Sunday. Organizers said they'll be following state and local COVID-19 guidelines at the event, which means guests will be required to wear masks indoors.
