JOLIET, IL — Bobbie Jo Diers, a 51-year-old woman whose federal prison sentence was commuted by President Barack Obama in 2016, is back in the Will County Jail after authorities charged her with multiple counts of delivering cocaine this past summer. Diers, who now lives in Romeoville, was booked into the Will County Jail by the sheriff's office on Sept. 8, jail records reflect. She remains in custody, unable to post 10 percent of her $200,000. Joliet police said that Diers possessed and intended to deliver between 15 grams and 100 grams of cocaine back on July 21. Diers is also charged with delivery of cocaine on June 17 and June 24, according to the criminal complaint. In total, Diers faces three counts of delivery of a controlled substance, one count of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, and possession of a controlled substance. In 2016, Patch reported Diers, then 46 years old, was one of 214 people across the country whose federal sentences were commuted by President Obama. Diers was previously convicted of conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of cocaine and possession with intent to distribute. Her original sentence was 240 months in jail, with 10 years of supervised release, which was handed down April 12, 2010. According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Diers was originally scheduled for release on July 1, 2026. She was being housed at the Waseca Federal Correctional Institute in Minnesota. At the time of her recent arrest, Diers was living in the 1800 block of Lake Shore Drive in Romeoville.
