Since its institution in 1951, Cornelius-Lemley Fire & Rescue has relied heavily on the altruism of local volunteers and part-time firefighters. As the decades have gone by, our population has grown, medic-related calls have increased, buildings and structures have become more numerous and complex, and each year there are fewer volunteers and part-time firefighters that can consistently staff the shifts at Cornelius-Lemley.
